Biography

Born and raised in Chicago, Kim Strauss found his passion early as a singer in rock n’ roll bands. His four octave vocal range brought him early acclaim and he quickly moved into musical theater. He traveled the country performing in musicals and civic light operas. His credits include the lead role in the 20th year anniversary performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera with the Broadway cast, including Carl Anderson, the original Judas. He also starred in lead roles in “Chess”, “Grease”, “Phantom”, “Oklahoma”, and numerous others. He went on to record with such icons as rock band “Survivor” founder, Jimmy Peterik (“Eye of the Tiger”), producer/songwriter, Patrick Leonard (longtime collaborator with Madonna), 16 time Grammy winner, David Foster, as well as Don Henley, Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, and Al Jarreau to name a few. Kim also sang hundreds of jingles for such clients as, McDonalds, Oscar Mayer, Coca Cola, Lifesavers, United Airlines and many more. He was heard by millions for years as the opening yell on the mega-hit television show, “Survivor”.

His singing brought him to Los Angeles, and while continuing to work in the recording studio he moved into television, guest starring in numerous shows, including a 12 year stint as Dr. Reese Walker on the popular Emmy winning daytime soap opera, “The Young and the Restless”.

His vocal talent evolved naturally into a career in voice-over which has been his sole focus for the past several years. From his home studio in Los Angeles, he has worked on projects as varied as “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, popular anime shows and movies, commercials, promos (including five seasons as the in-show promo voice for the Emmy winning “The Steve Harvey Show”), as well as several blockbuster movie trailer campaigns such as “No Country For Old Men”, “Marley & Me”, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and others. He was also the voice of “NFL Thursday Night Kickoff” for three seasons, as well as the voice of the Luxury line of cars for AutoNation, the largest retailer in the country. In fact, Kim’s voice has been heard on literally thousands of spots for many of the largest corporations in the world.
